In the Gravitation Wave research field, the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO) and the Institute for Cosmic Rays Research, Tokyo University (ICRR) have recently signed a collaboration agreement for a reciprocal support and academic exchange related, among the other activities, to the construction of the new Japanese GW detector LCGT (Large-scale Cryogenic Gravitational wave Telescope).
The aim of this event is the exchange of know-how and technology in order to facilitate the realization of the future generation of GW detectors, both in Italy (advanced Virgo) and in Japan. The 3rd generation perspectives, thanks to the Einstein Telescope (ET) project will be investigated too and the ELiTES Japanese-European collaborative FP7 project, between ET and LCGT, will be prepared.
